40k how does rending work

I beg to differ, The rule states that the model makes an additional attack, and makes no reference to that attack being 'seperate' from the models attacks, but rather stating that it's another attack, at a higher initiative, at the unmodified strength and a fixed ap. The way I see it, strength and AP are fixed, as it states, but seeing as no mention of special rules being unusable is made, they should and do apply.

On Rending, check the wording again, it does give a fixed AP value, and seeing as it's resolved at AP-, that special rule has no effect on the AP.

I am fairly confident however that Shred is effective in this case, and the ability to wound on a 6 is also effective. I suggest you read rending again if you're claiming it has no effect on AP Perhaps all weapon effects should be ignored, since I can imagine the models kicking their victims while making the HoW attacks and therefore are not actually using their weapons.

In either case, against vehicles, each armour penetration roll of 6 allows a further D3 to be rolled, with the result added to the total.

My question is, do you re-roll when you're initially looking for 6's on armor pen? The only reason for this argument would be that the initial 6 to rend may not be enough to actually "penetrate" the armor Or, do you re-roll both if you get a 6 on armor pen, and the d3 still doesn't glance or pen? Obviously, I would do nothing to the Land Raider. Would I then re-roll all of them in hopes of getting some 6's?

Or, let's say I roll 1 6 to pen instead; that's a rend. Then let's say I roll the extra d3 for Rending and I roll a 1 so a total of 13, which doesn't cut it. Can I re-roll that d3 and hope for a 3 resulting in 15, thus causing a pen? Or, instead of rolling just the d3 would I re-roll that entire "shot"? Precedent is that you reroll everything. If by 'first die' you mean 'to hit' roll, then no. If the Armor Penetration roll is a 6, you get the d3 for rending.

A Carnifex could actually get Not rending being confusing, Eldar Sniper Rifles are confusing. With multiple blast it depends if they are barrage or not. If they are barrage then you place the first blast marker and roll scatter. Then from the final position you roll the scatter die to determine which way it flips for each additional shot fired.

For non-barrage weapons you place each blast marker individually and roll the scatter for each one. You can place all of the blast markers in the same spot but each one will scatter. Dakka 5. Member List. Recent Topics. Top Rated Topics.
