Why gloria trevi went to jail

Her lyrics are very sort of diffident lyrics … this idea of not having to brush her hair. And there was something revolutionary about her lyrics. A spokeswoman for Trevi told DailyMail.

Trevi became a superstar for her outspoken views on social issues, her outlandish fashion style and her defiant song lyrics. The unlikely rise, disappearance and subsequent comeback of Gloria Trevi began in Monterrey, Mexico, where Gloria los Angeles Trevino de Ruiz was born in though the exact date of her birth would be often disputed as she pursued stardom.

Regardless of the marriage to Mary, however, Boquitas Pintadas failed to achieve widespread success and broke up in How she supported herself in the intervening years is unclear, because her stories changed so frequently. The one certain thing, though, is that — however she made money, wherever she was living, whomever she was dating — she was writing songs, and they were good. Mr Midas — who, it turns out, Gloria was falling for — traveled to California with Gloria and her mother to record the album.

They were thrilled with the demo. But Gloria defended his tactics as he managed her career and decided to re-open his star school, and more and more young girls began to join the circle. Among them was Erika Aline Hernandez, who went by Aline, who says she was recruited by Gloria herself — and encouraged, during her first meeting with Gloria at his studio, to strip naked before the producer, according to McDougall's book.

Trevi's career began with the short-lived girl group Boquitas Pintadas, which was another project orchestrated by Andrade; he married one of the members, called Mary Boquitas. Karina Yapor, left, was just 12 years old when she joined Andrade's clan and was a huge Trevi fan, frequently travelling with her mother to see Trevi in concert; Aline Hernandez was another aspiring star who traveled with them and married Andrade before leaving the group, divorcing him and writing a tell-all book.

Gloria burst onto the scene as a force unlike anything seen in Mexican music circles before. Andrade had insisted that she cut her teeth performing in dive bars and difficult venues, hardening her and teaching her the value of a shock factor and tough-girl image — and she brought that to a whole new level when she made her debut on the weekly show Siempre en Domingo.

Not only did she thrash about the stage like a wild woman and flash her underwear, she snatched the glasses off the face of the respected host — and her performance so shocked Televisa that they banned her. Perhaps nothing could have propelled her career more, as fans fell in love with Gloria as an outspoken rebel wearing grungy clothes, a biting wit and an aura of brave feistiness. Her album was in demand and Andrade decided they should release a second very quickly to capitalize upon that success.

The outlaw singer was everywhere and young girls began imitating her. Aline claims he forced her into punishments such as sleeping on the floor or naked in the bathroom. As Trevi's star rose, the other girls in the 'clan' hoped to achieve similar success. Still, he divorced Mary for Aline when she was just 15 years old and married her in November The clan would come to include Karina Yapor, a year-old superfan who had followed around Gloria, her idol, for years, as her mother took her to events and concerts.

When Gloria offered Karina the chance to study with Andrade, the family were overwhelmed, according to McDougall's book. They had no idea what was in store for their pre-teen daughter, whose involvement and subsequent legal claims — along with those of Aline — would be instrumental in bringing down the entire scandalous lifestyle.

Between the manipulations of Sergio and the goading — or grooming — of the older harem of girls, Karina was soon sexually involved with the group, though, at 12, she could scarcely understand what was going on, McDougall writes.

There were alleged whippings, orgies and forced abortions as the girls repeatedly became pregnant and sent to the United States, where — unlike Mexico — the procedure was legal. She left right before Christmas in Meanwhile, Aline was preparing to come out with a new book.

Divorced from Aline, Mr Midas married teenage Karina, and bundled his remaining girls onto a plane to Spain. To make matter worse, Andrade and his clan would find out, when they got to Spain, that Karina — one of the youngest in the group — was pregnant, and too far along to get an abortion.

Andrade, center, took the girls to Spain and Brazil before he was eventually arrested in the South American nation; he was extradited back to Mexico and convicted in on charges of rape and kidnapping. Trevi maintained her innocence and wrote her own autobiography; she was cleared of all charges in and soon relaunched her career. Trevi gave birth to a son while still in custody in Brazil; authorities DNA tested the child and determined that Andrade was the father. Eventually, Karina gave birth to a boy in a Madrid hospital — named Francisco Ariel by Andrade — and took care of him with the other girls where Andrade had relocated them to Toledo, about 70 miles from the Spanish capital.

Award-winning journalist and author Christopher McDougall, right, interviewed Trevi and Andrade in prison and published the book Girl Trouble: The true saga of superstar Gloria Trevi and the secret teenage sex cult that shocked the world. Andrade fled to Argentina and then determined that he would move the whole group to Brazil, incorrectly believing that the country would never agree to extradite the parent of a baby born within its borders, according to Girl Trouble.

The baby was flown to Mexico and left with the Yapors, who for months simply waited and hoped that Karina would just come home. By March , however, they pressed charges accusing Gloria and Sergio of rape, kidnapping and corruption of minors. Andrade, however, had a whole game plan, and methodically went about impregnating as many of the girls in Brazil as he could — including Gloria. She gave birth to a daughter, Ana Dalay, who tragically died as an infant — setting off another mystery.

The body of the baby, McDougall writes, simply disappeared from the apartment one day. Against the backdrop of the international manhunt, however, Andrade threw a Hail Mary — and bought a ticket for Karina back to Mexico to convince her parents to drop the charges.

She also denied being his partner in crime. Trevi explained she was only 15 years old when she met him and believed she needed him if she ever wanted to have a successful career.

Slowly he began to manipulate her, she said, and accused him of beating and insulting her over a year period. Trevi explained she is only one of the many women Andrade took advantage of, noting her oppresser is free and likely still hurting other women.

She said that is because women who speak out against their abusers are often chastised instead of punishing the oppresser and called for an end to victim shaming. This has to end. This has to end for them, so there is a not a single woman in the world, who after facing her abuser, has to walk down the street being signaled by some idiot who accuses her of being a partner of her worst nightmare.

Widely known as the "Mexican Madonna," Trevi's big hair, leather vests, ragged tights and provocative attitudede made her seem unstoppable. She sold 20 million records, starred in three hit films, and packed arenas worldwide in her year career. While filming, A Toda Gloria 's crew followed Trevi nearly everywhere except for one place.

In the season premiere, Trevi is cast as a strong female role model, a perfectionist and workaholic who processes her husband's neediness and her children's needs by declaring things like, "If life turns its back on you, grab its ass. She has a tremendous story to tell. But Trevi's appeal extends far beyond working mothers.

They are so much fun. Trevi's real-life telenovela will also become an unauthorized biopic, Gloria , written by award-winning Mexican journalist-playwright Sabina Berman.

Initially, Trevi was involved with the project, which will premiere Jan. It's also about a girl who had dreams. Lady Gaga's Biggest Hot Hits. Yet that scandal, says Trevi, continually follows her, no matter what she does. This is why Trevi would like to create something straightforwardly positive.

She has also been collaborating with songwriter Claudia Brant, who has worked with everybody from Michael Buble to Ricky Martin. She came back and kicked ass. The day I have white hair, I want to be able to dye it violet.

If I'm 60, I'm not going to stop singing a sexy song. I told my husband I want to live to be and be sexually active. She's well on her way. This story originally appeared in the Oct. Search term. Billboard Pro Subscribe Sign In.
