Due to Covid, this year's main show has been cancelled, however, the Horticultural Committee plans to put on a scaled down version. The main focus will be raising funds to help preserve their society. Please visit the official website for further details.
The Ennerdale Show is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 25th August, The show centres around traditional sports and pastimes in the area with an annual fell race normally taking place for both adults and children.
The show also includes plenty of animals with sheep, dogs and horses a popular feature. Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling normally always takes place, as well, usually in the late afternoon.
With food and drink stalls, as well as local vendors, the Ennerdale Show is a great family-friendly day out. Please check the official Ennerdale Show website in advance of your visit to ensure it's still taking place.
Once Upon a Crime is a murder mystery event taking place at the beautiful Holker Gardens. The "part Mystery, part Scavenger Hunt and Treasure Trail" event is taking place on August the 11th with start times at 12pm, They say the quest should take approximately 1. Find out all about it here. It's an international music festival with a special emphasis on chamber music for classical musicians. The walk includes 4 summits, including Blencathra and provides stunning views across the Lake District.
The walk starts at 8. You'll need a reasonably good level of fitness to complete this walk and you'll want to book well advance as places will go quickly. You can book your place here.
