The exterior is shaping up. We need to do something about the landscaping. The shrubs are original to the house and the house was built in We've lost a tree or two to storms and luckily they didn't fall on the house. Love the brown shutters and blue door much better than the white shutters, red door, and shiny hardware.
What do you think of the makeover? Umm, notice the playground basically at our front door. The door was painted in and this is how it looks in No chipping, no scratches, no fading that I can tell. I'm getting ready to paint it again I just need to decide on a color.

Thanks for the post. My double front doors and storm doors are very similar to yours, and have given me the push I needed to move forward with painting the doors. Original color is almost same shade of blue, with the storm door a dark brown alloy metal. Brick front, almost same as yours. And, we had the ironwork posts. We covered them in wood, boxed and added some nice trim work.

Stroke along the length of the door, as if the door were made of wood, and you are brushing with the grain.
Wait two hours for the paint to dry; then turn the door over and paint the other side. Let the first coat of paint dry overnight, then scuff-sand it with grit sandpaper. Concentrate on areas with pronounced brushstrokes and flatten them.

Although the door jamb is white, and our front porch is white, I felt that a white security door would be too stark against the dark red wooden front door.
So I have purchased a black security door that I like with insect mesh. Question how did you get the glass out of the middle the two little peices.
